DYLAN REDMAN
I am a drummer, singer/songwriter from Melbourne, Australia. I have performed as a solo artist and with bands since I was 16, playing funk, rock, blues, hip hop, latin and other styles of music. I have travelled around Australia, Europe and have toured the USA four times since 2005.
While writing and recording original music for over 10 years, I released my first solo CD, "From Darkness To Light" in 2008 and am working with talented producer and recording artist, Simeon on a new release for 2010.
I have played the drums live and on recordings for: Tiani O'Neill, Canvas, Paradox 715, 2-11, Soda Nation, Tarun Stevenson, Young T MC, Falling Sky, Jonas James, Jet D, Axis, James Peden, Clara Rhoden, Sundry Synrdome, Simeon and other artists.
I have performed at The Cross Rhythms festival in the UK, Easterfest in Queensland, Federation Square Melbourne, Spencers Live, The Werribee Festival, Cafe Jam, The Espy, The Swan Hotel, The Crown Casino and The John Batman Theatre at the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre, to mention a few from an extensive list of venues.
A recent review by Sharon Brookes from Beat Magazine:
"Dylan Redman’s set has a social conscience and a real message. Singing lyrics about bullying, loss, and body issues he makes himself vulnerable, but it’s difficult to imagine he could sing about lesser things. Dylan draws from his life experiences, and lightens the mood (ironically), by setting some fairly heavy issues to a beat. ‘Come Down’ was written about his missing brother, Owen, ‘Don’t Pick on the Fat Kid’ is about his experience with bullies; in fact all songs on the CD ‘From Darkness to Light’ are meaningful and as the title suggests, the music is a catharsis."
My goals are to write great songs that will entertain, provoke thought and inject humour into music; performing not just for the sake of it but at events and venues that suit what my music is about rather than just throwing the music out there randomly. I want to work with people who can use my music to impact people and audiences in a positive way.
As a drummer, I am searching for an artist or band to play for/with making music which breaks the mould, is enjoyable and grabs peoples attention....and is not necessarily genre specific but crosses boundaries and appeals to a wide demographic of people.
