EXAUDI YOUTH CHOIR

The choir takes its name from the Latin word meaning” listen to us” or “understand us”. Founded by Claire Preston and Robert Stewart, the choir seeks to “fill the gap” between choristers’ experiences in their community children’s choir or school groups and adult community choirs.  Singers are aged between 18 and 28
.
Exaudi’s first performances were at the National Eisteddfod in Canberra where they placed 3rd in the Open National Choirs Championship, Open Sacred and Open Contemporary. Adjudicator Ben Macpherson praised the Choir’s “great sense of colour” and their “excellent intonation and ensemble” while Don Whitbread was impressed by Exaudi’s “lovely choral tone and sense of phrasing”.

Exaudi Youth Choir has performed at the Department of Premier and Cabinet’s Australia Day Ambassadors Launch, the Choral Festival at Monsalvat, recorded with ABC FM and been broadcast on “Rising Stars” and released its’ first CD titled “Hear Us”.  Exaudi received glowing reviews during the Festival of Voices in Hobart where it was praised for a strong, engaging and uplifting performance at the Choirs of Excellence Concert and has been invited back in 2009 as guest choir.
In 2008 Exaudi performed the Schubert Mass in G Major at the Melbourne Town Hall with the Victorian College of the Arts Orchestra and concerts with the Australian Pops Orchestra at Hamer Hall.

2009 engagements include a concert for the Arden Crescent Concert Series in May and in July, an East Coast Tour with exciting concerts in Brisbane (So-la Voce, Resonance of Birralee), Newcastle (University of Newcastle Chamber Choir), Hobart (Festival of Voices) and Launceston (Australian Society of Music Educators).
