ANNA DANIEL

Anna is a VCA graduate.  In the mid 80s she studied with Irene Sharp in the USA. She has had extensive experience performing as a freelance cellist for over 25 years. She has performed in many orchestras, chamber ensembles and theatre productions and has given solo and chamber recitals throughout Victoria.

Anna’s teaching experience covers some 30 years at many schools and institutions in Melbourne, including Wesley College, Melbourne Grammar School, Melbourne Uni., Taylor’s College and Lauriston Girls’ School where she was  Head of Strings (1992-7).  Currently Anna is Co-Head of Strings at Yarra Valley Grammar, a position she has held since 1998. She conducts the Symphony Orchestra (70 students) and the Senior Strings and teaches students from the Yr 2 String Program up to VCE. This year she has taken the position of Head of Cello at Loreto Mandeville Hall, teaching cellists in the Yr 3 String Program up to AMusA. She also runs a busy private studio, teaching cello students from beginners up to LMusA.
Anna has adjudicated at many Eisteddfods and competitions in Melbourne and country Victoria and has  presented String Workshops and Demonstrations for the AMEB, VMTA, Amuse and AUSTAVIC. She is an examiner for the AMEB and VCAA.  She enjoys working with students of all ages and endeavours to impart her passion and enthusiasm for music and especially the cello.
