3ST: Violinopedia: A fun way to start playing the violin!

Games are a wonderful way for children to learn the basics of violin playing and musicianship. Violinopedia is an online method that offers fun activities and games to support and enhance the child’s experience learning the violin. The session will explore the method in detail and introduce group activities that can be used as a complement to any traditional method.

The Australian College of the Arts specialises in training students for careers in the creative industries. It’s Not Just Rock n Roll will help teachers develop and support students who have aspirations to join the music and entertainment industries.

3PR: A Puppet, Stories, Note Names and Games

Sharon Burch, creator of the Freddie the Frog® books, will share how a puppet, fiction and play make teaching abstract concepts easy and effective. Classroom management problems disappear as the wiggliest kids are thoroughly engaged.
3MT: Sibelius Open Forum
Amy Bennett and Josua Cowie (the Arts Centre Digital Learning Hub)
Sibelius is Avid’s world class music scoring software that produces beautiful looking scores and professional sounding audio exports. This session is a rare opportunity to bring us the questions about scoring music in Sibelius that you’ve always wanted to ask. From the fiddliest layout dilemma to the creation of wonderful looking worksheets, scoring advanced techniques to composition using the Ideas Hub, all questions are welcome. Whether you are a beginner or advanced user, this session will attempt to conquer your Sibelius issues in an open forum style. Ideas for using Sibelius in the music classroom can also be discussed with Sibelius experts and teachers Joshua Cowie and Amy Bennett. Please bring any scores or examples you would like to look at.
